welp, the weekend's F1 race at Indy was a farce to say the least. And there I was hoping to catch one last good F1 race before I go, guess that's too much to hope for. It's a real shame that they couldn't come to some sort of compromise, but then with the size of egos involved in F1, that was never going to happen. What a waste, they had a great build up through the weekend and it was gonna be a great race ...

Car Review of the Week - BMW M6 at edmunds.com. I think I have bitched and moaned enough about the car already, so I won't do it again. I am merely pointing out that there is yet another review of it.

Car Review of the Week Part II - 2006 Bentley Flying Spur at AutoWeek. Not the first review out there for this car either, and I will still take the Maserati over this, but it does have a very nice interior.

looks like Mercedes has released official photos of their next-gen S-Class, and it's hideous! It's no where near Bangle-d BMW bad, but it has a look only its mother (a Hyundai?) could love. That hideousness is matched in the interior, where BMW-like center stack (boring and ugly) and Chrysler/GM parts bin steering wheel conspire to murder any sense of cohesive design. The thing is totally uninspired inside and out, but Mercedes has been like that for a while now. You can find more ugliness at Serious Wheels.

Movie Review of the Day - Memories of Murder at Village Voice by Michael Atkinson. One of the many great Korean films in recent years, and one of my favorites this year. Totally worth seeing if it's playing at your area.

and let's finish the day off with the poster for hopefully the next great Korean film, Sympathy For Lady Vengeance, the concluding chapter of Park's vengeance trilogy. [stolen from Twitch]

unless I stop blogging all together, I guess once a week is about as much as I can do right now ...

Movie Trailer of the Day - Brothers Grimm via AICN. It's Terry Gilliam! Enough said! About time Miramax released this thing too!

Movie Trailer of the Day Part II - Mirrormask also via AICN. Written by Neil Gaiman and filmed by his long time collaborator Dave McKean, it looks intoxicating and should be a lot of fun.

Car Review of Last Week - 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca at AutoWeek. Another B9 review, I must say the grill is starting to grow on me.

and AC Schnitzer tries to de-Banglize the BMW 7-series. [link stolen from Autoblog] A pretty good job they did too.

have no idea why Rinspeed would call their tricked out 911 a Gullwing when it doesn't have gullwing doors! Scissor doors does not gullwing make!

oh this is just orgasmic news. Ferrari is releasing 20 some souped-up Enzos called FXX, in a program called Client Test Driver. Basically 1.8 mil will not only get you a chance to drive these 800 horsepower beasts, but also training to become a Ferrari test driver and potentially influencing their next production cars! That's my childhood wet dream becoming a possibility, all I need to do is come up with the coins, and somehow get myself invited to buy one. More pictures at Serious Wheels.

so my second suicide attempt last week was not any more useful than the first, but only because the bed of charcoal unexpectedly went out. It didn't do too much damage other than making the whole room smell like lighter fluids, and giving me a bad case of headaches. Granted, the headache probably came more from the heat exhaustion rather than any CO emissions, which means I am gonna have to re-evaluate my methodology and make necessary improvements. Next time, even more charcoal and turn the AC on? Maybe the third time will be the charm, it's very embarrassing that I can't even do this right.

First Drive of Last Week - 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca at edmunds.com. Still don't like the funky looks outside, though it's kinda growing on me. The interior however, is Lexus garish, especially the center stack with its organic shape. Maybe the Saab version will look better?

Road Test of Last Week - TVR Sagaris at Autocar. Absolutely love the looks of this thing with multiple gilled vents and wild wing/diffuser/exhaust combo rear end. The look is maniacal but somehow controlled, reminding me a lot of F40, which is a very good thing. And it drives the way it looks too, aggressive, unforgiving and without compromise of electronic hand holding. It might not be the perfect car, but it's built for people who really wants to drive.

Comparison Test of Last Week - 2005 Dodge Magnum RT vs. Subaru Legacy GT at edmunds.com. I don't know what got into the guys at edmunds.com, but it seems like they are comparing Subarus to everything under the sun these days. Not that I am complaining. Granted Legacy GT had no chance in hell against a Hemi-ed Magnum, in both performance and value, but Legacy is simply elegant and gorgeous inside and out. If I have to choose between an Impreza or a Legacy today, I will probably go with the Legacy.

oh, remember how the Celica used to be advertised as only looking fast? Welp looks like it's dead, Jim.

guess I should do another GT4 update too, in case I don't get another chance:
